Today the SD34 Vacancy Committee met and elected (unanimously) the same person their district assembly nominated to run in the primary: Lucia Guzman. They will try to get her sworn in sometime this week.
Dan Willis :: Guzman Replaces Sandoval in State Senate
This, of course, was to replace Sen. Paula Sandoval, who was elected earlier this month in a special election to fill a vacancy in City Council.

Sandoval will be sworn in tomorrow (May 17th) at 5:30 pm. It will be covered live on Channel 8 (if you have cable).

Guzman is likely going to face a primary in August from Rep. Joel Judd who is persuing the petition process to place his name on that ballot.
